Safeways Cathedral future

By Phil Jeffreys

In case you hadn’t noticed, our local supermarket is in the middle of a huge debate in our community.  You may not have noticed, because so far there is little external sign of the passionate arguments put up against the proposed changes to the store on 13th Ave.

CACA Responds to City Re: Safeway Redevelopment

 Safeway sign Summary:

We do not oppose the proposed development, but we do consider the design should reflect the nature and history of the neighbourhood.  The current design does not do this, despite architectural efforts and Safeway’s incorporation of these design features.  We think that more should be done.  We wish to congratulate Safeway for proposing a design that is not as large as some feared, but several aspects attracted significant criticism at the open house and in the media.  No one single issue has dominated the discussion.

Spring cleaning

Sample Image

Did you notice your dumpster looks spruced up today? That's because some 30 volunteers from CACA and St. Mary's Anglican put on their best painting clothes and gave our faithful alley dumpsters fresh coats for spring. Don't worry, no art was harmed in the process, just a some tags and swear words. The neighbourhood looks great! Thanks, everyone. Cathedral residents can help throughout the year: if your dumpster lid needs repair or there is offensive graffiti, especially hate symbols, call the City for a clean-up.
